  • Benazepril is used to treat heart failure in dogs and chronic kidney failure in cats. It dilates the arteries and veins thereby reducing blood pressure.

  • Betamethasone is a corticosteroid used to treat inflammatory conditions involving the joints, skin conditions, eye conditions, and ear problems. There may be other conditions for which your veterinarian may prescribe this medication.

  • Bethanechol chloride is used to stimulate muscular contractions in your pet's bladder. It is used in pets unable to urinate.

  • Bromhexine is a mucolytic. It reduces the thickness of the mucus in the trachea and bronchi, so that excessive fluid is more easily cleared from the respiratory tract. Bromhexine is used in respiratory tract infections and may be prescribed with other medicines.

  • Buprenorphine is an opioid analgesic used to relieve pain in your pet after a surgical operation. It is also used for sedation. Your veterinarian will administer the drug by injection for pain control.

  • Butorphanol is an opioid analgesic used to relieve pain in your pet after a surgical operation. Your veterinarian will administer the drug by injection for pain control.

  • Carbimazole is used to treat overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) in your pet. The thyroid gland is producing too much thyroid hormone causing symptoms in your pet such as restlessness, weight loss, increased heart rate, and heat intolerance.

  • Cardiomyopathy is a term used to describe diseases of the heart muscle (cardio = heart, myo = muscle, pathy = disease). In cats, various different types of cardiomyopathy have been described.

  • Increasingly, with improved nutrition, health care and management changes, more and more cats are living to greater ages. From this we can see that elderly cats form an ever increasing group of animals that need to be cared for.

  • Carprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve pain and inflammation. Your veterinarian may prescribe carprofen to reduce pain in arthritis or following surgical operations.
